Layered Surge on a Grain-Site Panel Is Not One Device
One surge block on the house panel does not cover the dryer controls
We still walk grain sites where a whole-home device went on the farmhouse and the bin controls keep dying. Lightning and switching on a dryer motor are not the same event as a TV in the living room. Layered surge means the service, then the panel that actually feeds the grain equipment. One sticker is not a plan.
Agricultural work sits under agricultural services. House panels stay on residential services. Commercial shops use commercial when that is the occupancy.
Name the panels that fail, then pick the layers
Photograph the grain-site panel, the house service, and any control cabinets that already lost boards. Note dryer, aeration, and scale loads. A charger on the same feeder is the August 21 parking conversation. Do not hide both jobs in one vague surge quote.
Grounding and bonding on older farmsteads belong in the same visit. A surge device on a floating ground is theater. Generator transfer should not fight the surge plan. See generator systems when outages are part of harvest week.
